The Joey Effect

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

Hello Lovelies,

I’m calling this “The Joey Effect.”

Joey is rather a newcomer to my circle of friends.  He is the newest boyfriend of my daughter’s boyfriend’s daughter.  (That’s a mouth full.)  Joey arrived from Mississippi in June.  The Sweetest kid ever.

Everyone has encouraged him to get a job and to find work- to no avail.  Instead he wanted to rest and up his “gaming” skills.  Now, like many of us,  he has this plan of going back to school.  He wants to return to being a CNA.  But it never seemed like the right time to do so.

Now, he is looking at moving with his girlfriend to Chicago because she got this new job.  And it looks like now is the right time for him to go back to school.  But it really isn’t.  Class was cancelled.  He’ll have to drive back to Dixon twice a week when classes start up again.

If he just would have started when he arrived, it would have been over and done with already.  He would have already been a CNA!

Moral of the story.  Don’t put off until tomorrow what could be done today.  The time is never perfect.

Big Hugs,

Christine Marie

Your Future Self Thanks You

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

Hello Lovelies,

Ultimately, we are not doers but deciders. And we are responsible for every decision we make.  From seemingly small inconsequential decisions to much more impactful decisions.  Our decisions that we make this day have far reaching tentacles into our future.

Take a moment today to get acquainted with your future self and ask her if she is grateful for the decisions you made today, whether it be putting down the chips in favor of a green drink or taking that 10% and investing it as opposed to buying that latest device.

Stay tuned for a future self visualization.

Do You Have The Cojones to Let Your Light Shine Through?

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

I want to believe that we are no longer under the old paradigm where change is painful.  That we have to go through trials and tribulations to come out on the other side.

In my therapist days it used to be called going through the dark night of the soul or the hero’s journey.  The dark night of the soul meant grappling with the bigger issues of why am I here and what is, if any, the value in my suffering?   The hero’s journey meant some huge Ulysses- like saga where we met on the road to our home a succession of demons and trials and tricksters of all sorts.

In many cases it meant withdrawing ourselves from our daily lives and our family, friends, and loved ones to go to the mountains in India and study under some guru who would point the way home.

Today, right now, I ab soul lutely believe that we can find our way back home through the path of joy…through the path of choosing to feel good.  I ab soul lutely believe that happiness is our birthright..and prosperity in all its lovely facets…and that the Universe has our back.  I ab soul lutely believe that the Universe loves us, adores us and has our back.

I ab soul lutely believe that we are light and liquid love and it is our mission and our delight to express that light and liquid love into the Universe and it is my sincere desire to have the cojones (balls) to live in these beliefs in spite of the labeled outside circumstances.  It takes courage.  After all, it’s a lot easier to say “I’m not happy and here’s why.”  (pull out of back pocket long laundry list of grievances)

Dear {insert your name here}

You are cordially invited to experience the most magnificent day of your life.  You may give yourself the most delightful thoughts and feelings.  You may give hugs to yourself and others til you bliss.  And you may sing at the top of your lungs “I’m gonna let this light of mine…shine shine shine  Enjoy the song!

Hug til you bliss,

Christine Marie M.A.

I Confess

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

I confess…confession is good for the soul..so, I confess.  Now I am having second thoughts.  Let me reconsider.  I may just be able to write today’s stuff and just not confess what I was going to confess.  Instead, I want to revisit those old belief systems that are well worn and oh so very comfortable.  A belief  so mightily ingrained that it can’t even be seen or spotted anymore.

It is truly part of the landscape.   Like a comfortable old night shirt~thread bare~barely hanging on~and a material diary of the last 15 years, an outmoded belief that really no longer serves you ~ yet, you continue to entertain it.  Yes, it knocks on your door and you let it in.  Not only do you let it in but you have the room lit with candles and mood lighting, there is some Barry White in the background, and you pour wine for the two of you from a box.  You entertain that belief..you serve it wine..and you may even have a roll in the hay with it.. In the morning you wake up…your mascara streaked, schmeared, and schmudged and you smell of cheap wine and pity.

Next time, when the door bell rings you can answer it..but..instead of inviting that old belief of lack, poverty, victimhood, constriction,or whatever you name it in to your head just say “Hi” and give it one of those Mickey D coupons for a free cone and say adieu or adios or sayonara, or even bon voyage.  Oh and forget I ever mentioned about the 15 year old thread bare nite sirt..and no, there is no stocking cap that goes with that.  It’s the truth I tell ya..the sacred truth.

Sayonara,

Christine Marie M.A.

Bamboo Time

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

My first thought today is to continue with my Dirty Harry impersonation..that’s because at my core I believe that nothing exceeds like excess..and I tend to always go too far.  So, I shall pull the reins back and NOT do my Eastwood…but that shouldn’t keep you from still imagining me doing it..(te he te he)..While I have you under my control and in my power I will now implant the HRPuffinstuff song.. h r pufinstuff..hypnotizeddon’t hate me just cause I can do this stuff.

On my screensaver I have a pic of a bamboo forest.  Why?  It is an instant reminder to me about the Law of Gestation~the time it takes to manifest things from the non physical into the physical..once bamboo is planted it takes a long time before its tender little shoots even break ground…oh but when it does LOOK OUT.  THAT BAMBOO CAN GROW 80 feet in a week..(first warning~ I tend to speak in hyperbole).  But you get the point.  So..don’t quit.  don’t give up..Your dreams, like the tiny bamboo shoot, may not have broken the ground yet…  but it  still  growing underground and the Universe is arranging all its bamboo molecules so that once it breaks ground it can go from 0 to100 in a heartbeat.

I want to go to San Diego..lay on the beach..look at the ocean..enjoy the sea of humanity..But, alas, I am in Tucson.  Trips can be fun and enjoyable and this trip will be as well.  I decided that I will not turn around and go back to Tucson just because I am in Nevada.  I am just not in San Diego…yet. Just like those bamboo shoots have not broken ground yet.  But how many times have we given up on a dream or a desire because we hadn’t “seen” evidence of it, YET.??

Hence, a little thing I like to call BUFFER TIME.his pants are too big  What have you been gestating that hasn’t shown up in your 3-D world of experience YET?  Just because you’re not in San Diego are you gonna turn around and “go backwards” or even “quit”. C’mon. You’re made of tougher substance than that..In fact, you are made up of the same things the planet, the universe, the stars are made of…..Now, fold up your lawn chairs, get back in your camper, get out that crusty Atlas, fill up your gas tank and point yourself in the direction of San Diego.  You’ve got BAMBOO waiting.

Blessings,

Christine Marie M.A.

It’s All About The Grit

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

In Angela Duckworth’s New York Times Bestseller, “Grit,”  the noted author states that it’s not always talent or genius that leads to success.  It’s a combination of passion and persistence that leads to success in one’s life.  She calls this blend “GRIT.”  (Not to be confused with the Southern comfort food or something Flo might suggest you kiss.)

This is good news!  Thank God we don’t have to be geniuses or MENSA Members to succeed in life.  As a Life Optimization Coach, I’ve seen what determination, persistence, perseverance, and passion can accomplish in one’s life.

I’ve said for years, “It ain’t pretty but it’s gritty.”  That’s exactly what it looks like on your way up the mountain.  And Grit doesn’t care how big that mountain is in front of you.   The mountain won’t stop Grit.

Three years ago, I bought my daughter Julie a charm and had grit inscribed  on it.  She wears it everyday to remind herself that we can all live charmed lives with a little bit of grit.

Remember, it is a marathon not a sprint.  Use your grit.

Check us out on itunes or BBSradio.com/LifewiththeGirlfriends where Julie and I talk about Grit and FAS (Foreign Accent Syndrome).  We always like to mix humor with the take away.

Blessings and Grit,

Christine Marie M.A.

Einstein vs. Newton

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

I feel rushed.  There never seems to be enough time.  That’s an hour I’ll never get back.  I’m always late.  I never get all the stuff I want done.  I need about three more hours in the day.

These are typical Newtonian Time statements.  Newtonian Time is based on the scarcity of time, the lack of time.  Newtonian Time is based on the idea that time runs out before you accomplish what you want to accomplish.  Newtonian Time is dualistic at its core.  There’s either too much or too little at its core.  For example, if you are on an awesome vacation, time seems to fly by.  However, dinner with your mother-in-law, time may seem like it is standing still 🙂   Newtonian Time appears to be outside of you where you have little to no control over it.

However, Einstein Time taps into the creative flow.  At its core, you are the creator of time.  You are the master of time- it does not master you.  Einstein Time happens from the inside out, where Newtonian Time happens from the outside in.

I call this God’s time.  I am persuaded that there is a divine flow to our lives.  When we TRUST (To Rely Unto Spirit Totally) and rest in the creative flow of God’s time, we can stay out of stress and judgement.  Being in God’s time allows for serendipity, coincidence, and luck to take place.  When things are so rigidly structured by Newtonian Time we lose the capacity for wonder, awe, and miracles to enter into our lives.

This week let’s practice staying in the flow of God’s Time and staying out of Newtonian Time.

And catch us every Sunday at 7pm CT on Life with The Girlfriends on BBSradio or on iTunes.  Check out our last show where we discuss God Time.

Speaking of Einstein

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

Speaking of Einstein, I have a picture above my table in my living room that is a quote from Albert Einstein.  It says, “There are only two ways to live your life.  One is as though nothing is a miracle.  And the other is as though everything is a miracle.”  I’m part of the latter group.  How about you?

I happen to have bought prescription reading glasses this week.  Pardon my naivete, but, it is a miracle your ears are in the perfect place to hold your glasses.  And your nose too.  So you could say you need your ears and nose to see.

So do you believe everything is a miracle?  What happened if all those little coincidences that just seemed like dumb luck disappeared?  What if you had to use glue to keep your glasses on?

Think of all the things that didn’t happen on your way to work today.  Your tires were filled with air.  Your dog didn’t run out of the house.  Your hot coffee didn’t spill on your lap.  Even though you ran through that yellow light, you weren’t t-boned.  You were able to get a parking spot.

I consider miracles the same thing as blessings.  And every night before I fall asleep, I count my blessings.

Stay tuned for next week’s blog.  We are going to talk about Einstein Time.

And catch us every Sunday at 7pm CT on Life with The Girlfriends on BBSradio or on iTunes.

Here’s a little song sung by Amy Grant, “Count Your Blessings.”

No Deposit No Return

Speaking of goals and dreams, have you ever noticed there is no such thing as coasting or middle ground? It is a fact of life that you can’t coast or stay in the middle ground without you noticing you’re slipping behind and everyone else is moving ahead.

Abraham Hicks usually ends her seminars with the idea that we are perfectly incomplete.  It’s true.  Therefore there is no coasting.  There is no middle ground- only sewing seed in the good ground of being perfectly incomplete.

So let’s take a quick look at the pillars in your life:  spiritual, health, finance, career, service, and friends and family.  Is there an area that after taking an honest look at you would say that you’ve been coasting?  That you’ve stopped funding its spiritual bank account?  Well, today make a deposit and move back into growth cycle instead of living off the interested that you funded to date.

Motivate then Dominate

§ Filed under Relationships § No Comments

Just wondering.   When you have some pretty big goals that aren’t going to happen over night, what keeps you motivated?  What keeps you motivated when the obstacles hit or progress is going slower than you anticipated?

Let’s assume you burned the boats.  What I mean by that is you made a quality decision.  You’re not going back or giving up.  So how do you traverse those down times?  What do you do when momentum stalls and motivation wanes?

Here’s three suggestions.  Remember, that you are coming from a place of victory.  That means all you have to do is walk through the plan.  Knowing you are coming from a place of victory means your attitude can be one of achievement and success not disappointment and discouragement (which are always dream killers).

Also, be comfortable with the small failures along the way.  Author Seth Godin said that he probably has more successes than the average guy but probably twice as many failures as well.  So get use to failing.  And remember that fail stands for Forge Ahead In Leverage:)

And, fast forward your life 2 years from now.  What would it look like if you just kept moving toward your dream?  What does it look like five years from if you never stopped regardless of what happens?  Now see your life 5 years from now if you decide to quite.

There is really no choice but to NOT QUITE.  Remember it is not a nine inning game.  You don’t quit until you win.  This is when you dominate.
